Avengers Infinity War 2: When will part 2 be released? Are there plans for another movie?

The superhero hit, based on Marvel Comics books, has been in the making for 10 years.

Avengers Infinity War sees an impressive list of Marvel characters team up to try to prevent gigantic alien Thanos from wiping out half the universe.

But at the movie’s close, the purple villain appears to be the victor by completing the Infinity Gauntlet of six stones and disintegrating the world around him with a snap of his fingers.

He disappears off to another planet while billions of people, including 12 of the superheroes, start disintegrating around him.

But in a shock after-credits twist, a disintegrating Nick Fury manages to send a successful distress signal to Captain Marvel before its too late.

When will part 2 be released? Are there plans for another movie?

Marvel Studios has confirmed a part 2 film is on its way, leading on from the Avenger Infinity War.

This is a first for the Avengers films, which have previously had standalone storylines to allow audiences to watch them individually.

Filming for the as-of-yet unnamed sequel, with a working title of Avengers 4, was shot straight after Avengers: Infinity War.

It has a release date of May 3, 2019.

How much money has Avengers: Infinity War taken?

Avengers: Infinity War has so far grossed more than $808 million worldwide, making it second highest-grossing film of 2018 after Black Panther – another Marvel movie.

In fact Marvel and Disney studios have nine of the top ten biggest worldwide openings since 2002.

Prior to its release, fans can expect to see a huge number of Marvel solo character films with Ant-Man and the Wasp out this July.

Producer Kevin Feige thanked fans on Twitter for making Avengers: Infinity War the biggest opening weekend of all time.

He wrote: “To the greatest fans, the past ten years have been an unforgettable ride and we couldn’t have done it without the entire team at Marvel Studios, our incredible talent in front of and behind the camera, the visionary comic book creators, but most importantly you.

“Thank you for embracing these characters and stories since we kicked off the MCU ten years ago.

“This past weekend was a result beyond our wildest dreams.”
