Avengers Infinity War: Groot’s heartbreaking final line revealed (SPOILERS)

WARNING: Major spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War ahead.

After Thanos activated the Infinity Gauntlet and wiped out half of all humanity, Groot was one of the many fatalities.

Groot’s final line was unintelligible given his own unique language, but Guardians of the Galaxy writer-director James Gunn, who was consulted on the characters’ dialogue in Infinity War, has revealed what the Vin Diesel-voiced character said.

One Twitter user asked him: “@JamesGunn Might be too soon to ask this, but do you know what Groot’s last line is at the end of the movie?”

Gunn replied that the answer was in fact “Dad”, said as Groot was running towards Rocket.

Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) were the only two Guardians regulars to survive the Snap, with Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Mantis (Pom Klementieff) and Drax (Dave Bautista) also turning to ash.

Gamora (Zoe Saldana) was murdered by Thanos earlier in the film.

However, at least Pratt and Klementieff are confirmed to be returning for Guardians Vol 3, as the former wrote on Instagram earlier this week.

“Happy Birthday @pom.klementieff whom many of you know as Mantis!!!” he said.

“She’s such a unique, talented and driven artist. Can’t wait to start shooting Guardians Vol. 3 with her next year!

“Hope you’re having a good day Pom!”

Theories have been coming thick and fast, pondering how exactly the wiped-out Marvel favourites can return to the MCU.

Given that Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) are also thought to be returning for more movies, many are suspicious over whether the deaths really are permanent.
