Avengers Infinity War: Confirmation that dead characters WILL come back to life in sequel?

James Gunn – the writer and director of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies – has confirmed something very interesting about the next film in that trilogy.

And while this nugget of info isn’t particularly surprising, it does surely all-but-confirm something of a reversal in the Avengers: Infinity War ending.

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR AHEAD.

The movie saw the deaths of multiple Marvel heroes – including Guardians favourites Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff).

In fact, with Gamora (Zoe Saldana) dying earlier in the movie, it left only Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) left.

Now, Gunn has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will take place in the aftermath of Infinity War’s sequel, the tentatively titled Avengers 4.

And with the likes of Pratt and Klementieff confirmed to be involved, does that mean some of the dead Marvel heroes WILL come back to life somehow?

Pratt confirmed his involvement last week while wishing Klementieff a happy birthday.

“Happy Birthday @pom.klementieff whom many of you know as Mantis!!!” he wrote on Instagram.

“She’s such a unique, talented and driven artist. Can’t wait to start shooting Guardians Vol. 3 with her next year!”

Gunn tweeted in a list of answers to fan questions: “GotG Vol. 3 will be set AFTER Avengers 4.”

So unless the trilogy finale will just be Nebula and Rocket having a long series of flashbacks, we can seemingly bet on Pratt, Bautista and Klementieff’s characters coming back in some capacity.

As Saldana’s Gamora died a different way, she is probably more of a question mark – but theories are still doing the rounds as to how she could return too.
