Avengers Infinity War: Is VISION dead? Will he return in Avengers 4?

There have tears and howls of shock and horror as Avengers 3 hits cinemas across the globe.

Marvel promised some huge losses but nobody was prepared for the sheer scale of death and destruction wreaked by Thanos.

One tragic hero even died twice.

Many fans are convinced that a huge number of deaths can be somehow reversed but it looks certain that a number of specific major characters will not be coming back ever again.

WARNING MAJOR INFINITY WAR SPOILERS.

Poor Vision was high on the list of characters most likley to die. After all he had an Infinity Stone embedded in his head and Thanos was unlikely to be gentle removing it.

What made it even more tragic was that his beloved Scarlet Witch actually killed him first to destoy the stone and prevent the Mad Titan from assembling the full Infinity Gauntlet.

Thanos brutally broke fans’ hearts again by rewinding events using the Time Stone, ripping out the Mind Stone and then killing Vision again.

How can anyone possibly come back from that?

Most of the characters killed in the final Snap are integral to the ongoing phases of the MCU, like Black Panther, The Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man. It seems certain The Snap will somehow be reversed in Avengers 4.

Characters who died before The Snap like Loki and Vision have had full character arcs and been around since the early movies. Their time has come.

Even more importantly, it is unavoidable that some deaths should not and must not be reversed, otherwise it devalues all the sacrifices and shocks of Infinity War.

Paul Bettany has starred in the Marvel movies since the very beginning, when he was just the voice of Tony Stark’s AI pal Jarvis.

The dramatic events of Avengers: Age of Ultron gave him a body when Jarvis merged with the Mind Stone and became Vision. He has even been able to have a romantic relationship with Scarlet Witch.

Their intimate moments together and desperately emotional final scenes were one of the great strengths of Infinity War. It seems certain the Russo brothers will not take it all back in Avengers 4.

The directors spoike out recently about how hard it was to tell some stars that their Marvel journey had come to an end.

Joe Russo said: “They’re never easy conversations to have with people.

“But I think that people are understanding that the story comes first and a lot of these people have really amazing careers and lots of films that they want to make so, ultimately, I think they go through a grieving process like anyone, but you come out the other side at some point and understand what being part of the Marvel Universe did for you. And, like with us, when we move on from Marvel, it’s done amazing things for us and allows us a lot of other opportunities in our careers.”

Vision (and Jarvis) will be loved by fans forever but their time in the MCU has surely ended.
