The BAFTA TV awards are on in London tonight, and one of the highlights of the evening are the dresses worn on the red carpet by the celebrities.

Some of the most loved TV faces did not disappoint, with a host of gorgeous gowns on display.

Laura Whitmore, 33, looked sensational in a yellow dress which she paired with a Hollywood red lip look.

Yellow was a popular colour, with Nadine Mulkerrin, 24, also choosing the shade for her simple yet striking gown.

Michelle Keegan, 30, showed the influence of husband Mark Wright’s LA career, choosing a classic Hollywood A line gown in lemon yellow.

White was another colour chosen to great effect by several of the attendees. Claire Foy, 34, looked regal in a white strapless dress with a giant cream tie at the front.

She paired this with an elgeant white and gold square clutch and a simple swept back updo.

Amanda Holden, 47, stole the show in a hot pink dress, posing up a storm alongside her young daughter Alexa on the red carpet.

Thandie Newton, 45, is nominated for Best Actress tonight, and she looked every inch the Hollywood star in a printed strapless dress.

Anna Friel, 41, has also been a star of both TV and film for many years, and she showed off her alabaster skin and brown hair with a deep moss green strapless gown.

Call The Midwife favourite Helen George, 33, looked elegant in a blush pink ruffled column dress.

She paired the strapless gown with a large egg-shaped bag glittering with gems, and wore her platinum blonde hair swept up in a chic updo.

Pale colours also worked for The Crown actress Vanessa Kirby, 30, who sparkled in a nude dress with a silver overlay.

She kept the rest of her look simple, wearing delicate diamon drop earrings and a diamond ring.

Her hair was slicked back and tonged into loose, tumbling waves, and she completed the looks with a deep berry lipstick.

Not all of those walking the red carpet looked their best, and sadly many of the celebrities missed the mark.

Claudia Winkleman always tries out brave looks on the red carpet, but sadly tonight’s effort did not flatter the veteran presenter.

Caroline Flack, 38, looked like a cake-topper in her sugary pink dress. The one-shoulder design featured a black leaf pattern and one of Caroline’s shoulders was covered in a pink tulle sleeve.

And former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts drowned her frame in a sheer red dress, which she paired with ill-fitting shoes.
