The royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at Windsor Castle yesterday immediately brought comparisons to the 2011 wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Look through this gallery to see the two royal weddings in pictures.

We look closely at the details from the highly anticipated wedding dresses to the floral bouquets carried by the brides.

American actress Meghan Markle, 36 married Prince Harry, 33 at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle yesterday in a classic design by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy.

The 1950’s style gown was simple and elegant and very different to her sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge’s dress.

Kate Middleton, 36, chose a fitted lace wedding dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen when she married Prince William, 35.

Comparisons between the tiaras can also be seen – Kate wearing the Cartier Scroll tiara and Meghan opting to wear Queen Mary’s Lozenge Bandeau tiara.

The gallery also shows the venues of the weddings and the delicious cakes served to their guests.
