Meghan Markle tights at Garden Party show ‘transformation’ after breaking Queen royal rule

Meghan Markle, 36, wore a pair of nude tights last night, a style decision which held more significance than meets the eye.

Meghan, also known as the Duchess of Sussex, made her first official appearance as a member of the royal family last night, after marrying Prince Harry, 33, last Saturday.

She wore a stunning Goat dress worth £590 for the garden party event for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday – however, it was Meghan’s tights that stood out the most.

The tights were proof of Meghan’s “transformation” into a royal, former royal butler Grant Harrold told Express.co.uk. The style choice is known to be customary of royal women.

Meghan broke the Queen’s royal rule for style earlier this year when she chose to go bare-legged during a public appearance.

Grant explained the significance of Meghan’s decision to wear tights now she is officially a member of British royalty.

He said: “As I said in the past we will see a transformation of the new Duchess within the coming months and years.

“Wearing tights is what royal ladies do and I was pleased to see she has adopted this practice.

“As I have also said, there will be times she will opt for a more casual look in private.

“This is of course only right, but in public she should and will dress accordingly to royal dress codes and wearing tights is one of them.”

Claudia Joseph, author of How to Dress Like a Princess, also commented on the sartorial choice.

She called Meghan’s outfit a “perfect” choice, with the tights showing she had “mastered royal protocol”.

“It was lovely to see the Duchess of Sussex on her first public engagement since getting married.

“I thought she looked perfect for her first Royal garden party.

Not only had she chosen one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite designers, Goat, but she had totally mastered Royal protocol, wearing tights, rather than bare legs.”

Meghan Markle wore bridal colours for the appearance at Prince Charles’ birthday, as well as her wedding jewellery.

The new Duchess of Sussex is clealy still on a high after her incredible wedding on Saturday, and was seen wearing her Cartier wedding earrings.

Her hair was also reminiscent of her special day, as she wore it in a low bun similar to the style she chose for her nuptials.

Meghan’s nude-coloured Goat dress, £590, had romantic, sheer arms with a raw, unfinished hem. The rest of the dress, named the Flavia, was quite simple, and came down past her knees.

She teamed this with a wide brimmed hat by royal favourite Philip Treacy, which she wore to the side.
