Captain Marvel: Will Black Panther appear in Captain Marvel movie?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is cleaning up at the box office at the moment with several huge blockbusters sweeping up on there opening weekends.

Black Panther’s February debut marked one of the most successful MCU movies in a while, responding to a thirst for accurate representation in the massive Marvel universe.

But T’Challa’s fate at the end of Avengers: Infinity War left those same fans with broken hearts.

However, a salve may come in the form of the Captain Marvel film which is due to be released next year.

Will Black Panther appear in the Captain Marvel movie?

There is plenty of reason to believe he will, or at the very least a Black Panther character could appear.

Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s and follows the course of Air Force officer Carol Danvers.

Played by Brie Larson, Danvers acquires superhuman powers when her DNA is fused with her Kree-alien co-officer’s during an explosion.

Like Captain Marvel, Black Panther also kicks off in the 1990s, with a visit to Oakland, California.

Given their proximity in time, and their link in the Avengers saga, it seems a safe bet to assume Black Panther could appear in the Captain Marvel movie.

One fan theory suggested linking T’Cchalla and Captain Marvel could lead to lead into The Ultimates, another imprint of Marvels heroes.

Not to mention Captain Marvel has recently been filming in California, the very state where we started Black Panther.

Marvel fans are also speculating that Martin Freeman’s Everett Ross might feature in Captain Marvel too.

A Black Panther scene has Ross going to Wakanda to recover from severe injuries and when he awakes, he is confused and disoriented.

He asks Shuri if she knows who he is, and she rattles off some information about him, including the salient detail that he is a former Air Force pilot.

Given Carol Danvers’ history in the Air Force, there may be an overlap here as well, featuring Martin Freeman or perhaps a younger version of him.

But fans will have to wait a few more months before finding out if their theories were correct.
