Princess Eugenie: Royal wears quirky 'love' hat for Queen’s garden party
Princess Eugenie attended a garden party today thrown by her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, at Buckingham Palace.
Never one to shy away from a daring hat design, the princess wore a boater-style hat emblazoned with the word “love”.
The 28-year-old was at Buckingham Palace for one of the Queen’s famed garden parties, which also saw her cousin, Prince William, 35, in attendance.
Eugenie might have love on her brain as she is set to marry fiance Jack Brooksbank later this year.
The two, who have been together for eight years, will marry at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, this October – the same venue Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials took place.
Laughing and chatting with her cousin the Duke of Cambridge, Eugenie kept things demure in a navy, knee-length dress in a cotton material.
Belted at the waist, the navy dress off her slimmed down figure, with button detailing running down to just below the waist.
Understated yet elegant, the dress had large, 3/4 length turned up sleeves, with the princess choosing to unbutton the top few buttons of the dress.
With very little other detailing the unusual hat added a playful twist to the more monotone ensemble.
Also navy blue in colour the playful boat hat displayed the word “love” in what appears to be beads. Navy blue mesh covered the princess’ eyes.
To complement the look, Eugenie wore minimal makeup and wore her flame-red hair loose, adding a more relaxed element to her garden-party ensemble.
On her left hand, the stunning coral-coloured engagement ring given to her by Brooksbank, very smilier to that of her mother, Sarah Ferguson Duchess of York, 58.
Keeping the focus on her stunning rock of an engagement ring she accessorised with simple, gold drop-down earrings.
Eugenie finished off the elegant all-navy ensemble with a classic pair of navy blue pointed toe stilettos.
By her side her cousin William looked dashing in a coat and tails, finished off by top hat and umbrella.
The only royal to have a social media presence, Eugenie posted another elegant look from Buckingham Palace gardens to her Instagram account yesterday.
Wearing a white floaty dress with striking floral prints, the princess captioned the image: “So lovely meeting the incredible Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award achievers and their families @dofeuk. In my next life looks like I could be a comedian.”
Made of a delicate fabric, the wraparound dress floated in the breeze as Eugenie laughed and joked with the crows gathered in Buckingham Palace gardens.
The Princess was stepping in for her grandfather, Prince Philip, who has retired from public duties despite this being his namesake project.
Princess Eugenie is said to allowed social media accounts as she is not a “working royal”, which is illustrated by the fact they are not listed on the royal.uk website.
