Han Solo movie FLOP: Guess how many MILLIONS the Star Wars spin-off is set to lose?

It’s the fourth Star Wars film and second spin-off Disney have produced since buying the rights to Lucasfilm.

But Solo is having a tough time at the box office, despite being the most expensive Star Wars movie ever at $250 million.

As it stands the sci-fi prequel has only made $264 million worldwide, having taken less money abroad that domestically in the US.

It’s still a lot of money made, but not enough for Solo to be considered a success by Disney.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Solo’s run will end around $400 million, while The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and even Rogue One settled light years away in the billions of dollars.

Wall Street analyst Barton Crockett reckons the film will lose around $50 million.

However film industry finance sources thing it could be as much as $80 or hight.

So what went wrong for Solo?

Well analyst Doug Creutz of Cowen & Co believes the blame lies with a poor marketing campaign rather than fans being given too many helpings of Star Wars at once.

After all it was only half a year ago that The Last Jedi was released.

Nevertheless there are other reasons audiences didn’t flock to Solo.

Perhaps the prime concern was the fact the Star Wars prequel has been through production problems.

Original directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord were fired over creative differences and Ron Howard came on as director.

The veteran filmmaker ended up reshooting 70% of the film, hence the ballooning budget of $250 million.

Aside from this, some Star Wars fans boycotted Solo after The Last Jedi backlash.

How Solo tanking at the box office will affect the franchise’s future is anyone’s guess.
