Avengers 4: Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner reveals ‘painful therapy’ during filming

The actor broke both of his arms whilst shooting Tag, which filmed immediately before the sequel to Marvel‘s Avengers: Infinity War.

Rather than holding up the shoot, Renner pushed ahead – but it came at painful physical cost.

“It’s sort of like a battle of my will to heal as fast as I possibly could, I did therapy just painfully every day and I was able to get through it all as best I could,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

“What else do you do, you just stop and cry and everyone go home? You know what I mean?

“I’d be like, ‘sorry guys, I’m not going to use a bow and arrow now in Avengers.’

He added: “It’s silly, so I have to kind of push through so that you can perform for everyone.”

Elaborating on his injury, the Clint Barton star had recalled: “I broke along with it [stack of chairs] and fell on the ground and broke my arms.

““Then I realised, I think something’s wrong, so I went to the hospital, and they said it was broken, so I got them wrapped up and then I went back to work and did everything I could do to continue on as we did.”

Hawkeye was completely absent in Infinity War, after fans had grown suspicious about his absence in all the trailers and marketing materials.

However he is confirmed to be in the next film – alongside Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) and Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp).

Brie Larson, meanwhile, has also filmed scenes as Captain Marvel, after appearing to be contacted in the end-credits scenes.
