Four of Diamonds competed on the programme in 2016, but muddled direction from show bosses and mentor Louis Walsh put them in the sing-off three times before they were finally eliminated in eighth place.

Now, almost two years since their first audition, they have released their debut single – and finally sound ready for chart domination.

Name On It is a collaboration with Burna Boy and has been released on streaming and download services today, June 14.

At time of writing, the track has already infiltrated the Top 40 on iTunes.

The band’s Twitter page wrote: “The day is finally HERE!

“Cannot believe we’re saying this but our debut single, Name On It feat @burnaboy is officially OUT NOW!!! Go and give it a listen.”

So far the 2016 season of The X Factor has not produced any chart-dominating superstars, although Saara Aalto – who recently competed in the Eurovision Song Contest – has had a No2 album in her native Finland.

That year’s winner Matt Terry recently parted ways with his record label after debut album Trouble failed to crack the Top 20, and its singles languished outside the Top 40.

Boyband 5 After Midnight also lost their recording deal when their own new material failed to chart highly.

Four of Diamonds are comprised of Caroline Alvares, 21; Lauren Rammell, 23; Yasmin Lauryn, 19; and Sophia Saffarian, 21.

They auditioned for X Factor with No by Meghan Trainor, and impressed at the Six Chair Challenge with Jamelia’s Stop.

Their performance of Royals by Lorde at Judges’ Houses went down extremely well with viewers at home, but Walsh ultimately chose to reject them in favour of all-male finalists.

Still, when Brooks Way were ousted, they were brought back, and lasted for four live shows.

Name On It by Four Of Diamonds is out now.
