After 14 years of waiting, Incredibles fans can finally stop holding their breath. 

Incredibles 2 will be released in UK cinemas on Friday, July 13, 2018.

Fans in the UK need to be careful around Twitter as Incredibles 2 was released today in the USA and spoilers are flying around. 

The Incredibles sequel will play in UK IMAX and IMAX 3D cinemas and after such a long wait, fans are ready for the family-friendly Incredibles charm to land in cinemas.

Incredibles 2 debuted in LA, California on June 5, 2018, and reviews are already giving the sequel high praise. 

Pre-sales for Incredibles 2 tickets are outpacing those for 2016’s last Pixar release, Finding Dory. 

Ticket Pre-sales are also already ahead of blockbusters like DC’s Wonder Woman and Spider-Man: Homecoming. 

The 2004 Incredibles film earned £261million domestically in its entire 23-week cinema runtime.

Incredibles 2 will be directed by Brad Bird, and features return voice cast of Holly Hunter, Craig T Nelson, Sarah Vowell, and Samuel L Jackson.

Incredibles director Brad Bird had been kicking around the idea of a sequel for a long while but was hesitant about committing.  

Near the premiere of Bird’s next Pixar movie, Ratatouille, he said he was open to an idea of a sequel to The Incredibles, but only if it could be even better than the original. 

“I have pieces that I think are good, but I don’t have them all together,” Bird told Comingsoon.net in 2007.

2013 was the next time Bird hinted at a sequel when he spoke to Hollywood Reporter. 

Bird said: “I have been thinking about it. People think that I have not been, but I have—because I love those characters, and love that world.” 

He added: “I am stroking my chin and scratching my head. I have many, many elements that I think would work really well in another Incredibles film, and if I can get ’em to click all together, I would probably wanna do that.”

Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed in March 2014  that Bird would return to write the Incredibles sequel and Bird started the script in the spring of 2015.

All this to say, it’s been a long time coming and UK fans of the Incredibles will have to wait a little while longer. 

But after 14 years, what’s another four weeks?
