Royal Ascot 2018: The best dressed at Ladies Day – including some familiar famous faces
Ladies Day falls on the third day of Royal Ascot, with the crowds already out in their droves.
Synonymous with beautifully dressed women, Ladies day sees its fair share of fashion wins, but also some fails.
Ladies Day is known for its fashion highs and lows, with many women using the day as a chance to experiment with style and wear daring outfits they couldn’t wear anywhere else.
Setting the bar high on her Royal Ascot debut earlier this week, Meghan Markle stunned in a elegant and chic white Givenchy dress with matching Philip Traecy hat.
With such a strict dress code to adhere to, it can be tough to pull together an outfit that ticks all the Ascot boxes, yet still impresses in the sartorial stakes.
However, the girls did good today at the prestigious horse racing meet, with many sticking to nude and summery colour palates.
ITV presenter Charlotte Hawkins, 43, attended the races again today, swapping yesterday’s hot pink attire for a elegant, subdued grey and white pleated midi skirt and patterned, structured long-sleeved top.
Matching her outfit perfectly, she wore a light great wide-brimmed hat at a jaunty angle, exposing her perfectly coiffed hair. She paired the elegant look with a pair of glittery silver peep-toe heels.
Another woman competing for the best dressed trophy was Ella Reese from Virginia Water.
The leggy blonde wore a larger than life nude gown, that came to below the knee and flared out from the waist, reminiscent of 1950s designs.
With an elegant draped halter neck, the dress was tied together at the top – a daring fashion move that paid off
Completing the look and raising the bar, Ella wore a stunning large, plate-shaped black and white hat on her head, with pale pink roses on to match her dress.
Another woman channelled understated elegance, in a lovely large pink hat that covered her entire head and pink and blue floral dress with an asymmetrical hem – plus a peak of cleavage.
As the racegoers arrived at the racing meet, one lady was spotted in an understatedly pretty calf-length blue wrap dress.
She matched it with white heeled sandals, a simple white pillbox clutch bag and a small rose pink hair to match the floral patterns on the dress.
Also in attendance wasTV and radio presenter, Kirsty Young, 49, who stood out against the hoards of bright colours, daring prints and pastel colour palates in a striking dark green pencil dress.
Channelling Meghan Markle with a bardot neckline, the dress came to below the knee, hugging tightly around her curves.
She topped it off with a understated dark green hat with bow detailing.
The neckline is actually now banned in many Royal Ascot ensures, including the Royal Enclosure itself, meaning Meghan was unable to wear her favourite neckline this year.
No bardot necklines are just one of the rules that many women attending Royal Ascot will have to adhere to, with other rules including no fascinators, no off-the-shoulder dresses and no halter necks.
