She donned a crisp white shirt and casual blue jeans and added grey boots.

Brigitte attended an event with her husband, who wore a chic navy suit.

Shaking hands with the First Lady, the public seemed thrilled to meet Brigitte.

This may come as a relief to the First Lady who has had some bad press in recent days.

The Presidential couple have been criticised after plans to build a swimming pool at their holiday home were revealed.

The couple holiday at the presidential Brégançon fort in the Riviera.

However, this is not a private residence, it is the official retreat of the President of France since 1968.

Some members of the French public have taken umbrage at plans to spend £13,000 of public money installing a pool at the historical location.
