Sophie Countess of Wessex ‘Queen’s favourite’ in florals after Ascot with Meghan Markle

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 53, is a member of the British Royal Family by marriage.

The blonde from Oxford married the Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward, 54, in 1999.

They couple have two children Lady Louise Windsor, 13, and James, Viscount Severn, 10.

Sophie is a fixture at many royal events including Royal Ascot last week.

The Countess of Wessex looked utterly stunning in pale lavender at the event. 

However, today the Countess’s look was more of a miss than a hit.

Sophie wore a bright floral maxi shirt dress.

The bold print featured poppies in red, purple, green and blue pattern.

The dress, which had a collar, was nipped in showing off Sophie’s narrow waist.

Sophie wore her hair up, adding espadrille sandals and gold jewellery to the look.

The Countess was in Ingatestone, Essex, today to visit Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary.

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the sanctuary cares for horses, ponies, donkeys, goats, sheep, cows and cats, that are victims of physical and mental abuse.

An avid horse fan, it was only last week Sophie sat side by side with Meghan Markle at Ascot. 

But was she snubbed in favour of Meghan on the big day.

The Duchess of Sussex dominated headlines last week, but Tuesday was a special day for Sophie and her husband.

Tuesday was Prince Edward and Sophie’s 19th wedding anniversary.

The important anniversary was not acknowledged on the Royal Family Twitter account.

Sophie has previously been described as the Queen’s favourite royal, according to the Daily Mail.

It is believed Sophie and her husband and their children – Louisa, 14, and James, 10 – regularly have early evening tea with the Queen at Windsor Castle on Sundays.
