Aldi aperitif outshines world famous Aperol
Aldi’s drink, which costs just £6.99, scored 77 out of 100 the same as household brand Aperol which sells for £15.
Aperini was described as ‘infused with orange, rhubarb, vanilla and an abundance of herbs and spices’.
Judges praised its ‘sweet, confected orange aroma with very sweet citrus flavours, a note of barley sugars and a tiny hint of bitterness’.
Campari, which also sells for £15, scored just 61 out of 100.
Sales of aperitifs are soaring due to the popularity of Aperitivo Spritz, a summer cocktail made from aperitif and champagne.
