James Bond 25 ‘Danny Boyle’s 007 will be VERY special’ teases Special effects supervisor

Daniel Craig’s fifth and final James Bond movie starts shooting at Pinewood Studios this December.

However very little is known about the secretive Bond 25, except for regular crew members returning including Special effects supervisor Chris Corbould.

The Bond regular has worked on every official 007 movie since 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me, except for 1983’s Octopussy.

And with Corbould returning for Bond 25, he’s revealed his excitement at working with Boyle as director.

Speaking at the opening of 007 ELEMENTS, a new Bond Cinematic Installation in Austria, Chris said: “[It’s] very exciting. I’m not going to talk about it, but I can’t remember being so excited about going on to a Bond. “It’s going to be very, very special.”

Corbould, who also worked on Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and two of the latest Star Wars movies, was asked at a roundtable interview if there would be a similar focus on realism with Bond 25.

He added: “I wouldn’t be doing it otherwise. Think the Olympics.”

Chris was of course referring to the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, which was directed by Boyle.

And specifically a scene in which Craig’s Bond went to Buckingham Palace to pick up Her Majesty The Queen, played by the actual monarch herself.

The Special effects supervisor added: “It’s still very early days and we’re still kicking ideas around.

“But it’s going to come together very quickly and very soon we’ll be thrashing it out, globetrotting and having a great time.”

During the interview, Chris also revealed that Spectre’s record-breaking explosion “freaked out” Craig.

He said: “So when Daniel came up I said, ‘This is going to be spectacular, but there is a problem with this.’ He said, ‘What’s that?’

“I said, ‘We’ve got to press the button before you’ve said the end of your line. He said, ‘What do you mean?’

“I said, ‘Well I’m not going to go into the technicalities here, but you’d just better get your line right alright otherwise we’re in deep s***.’

“Anyhow we did lots of tests. Y’know we wouldn’t let the whole lot off; just a couple of sample ones so he could get used to it. But it did freak him out for a minute.”
