Why does Kate Middleton make sure Princess Charlotte does this in public?

Kate Middleton is known as a style icon.

Affectionately dubbed as “Thrifty Kate”, the Duchess of Cambridge’s wardrobe is a subject of fascination for many.

Now it seems a trend in Kate’s wardrobe is beginning to emerge, and it involves Princess Charlotte.

The Duchess and young princess have worn matching colours on various occasions.

At the recent trooping the colour both were in a pale blue, and the year before both in pink.

According to one expert this is a calculated move by the royals.

9Style’s editor Damien Woolnough explained to Nine.com.au: “When you’re the most photographed family on the planet (sorry Beyonce, Jay-Z and Blue Ivy) coordinating your look is a great way to preserve the Cambridge family’s brand.”

The royals have this in common with another British institution, according to Damien, the Beckhams.

He added: “Just like the Beckhams, Kate and Will demonstrate that the family that dresses together looks great together.

“To stop the whole thing from looking too matchy-matchy, the colour choices are just close enough to make a strong impression without being spot on.”

Kate also uses her own attitude to dress to inspire Charlotte wardrobe.

She often recycles dresses from previous events.

Charlotte was seen in the same pink dress on the way to Germany and later at the Trooping the Colour in 2017.
