Mission Impossible 6 teaser: What does THIS Tom Cruise interview reveal about Fallout?
Mission: Impossible – Fallout has proven itself to be one of the best action movies to date.
From plot to stunts, Tom Cruise’s action spy-thriller franchise is not so much reinventing the genre but improving upon the solid foundation created by the likes of James Bond.
Express.co.uk can now bring you an exclusive interview with Mission Impossible’s star Tom Cruise on the behind-the-scenes magic with Dolby Atmos sound/vision which makes Mission: Impossible – Fallout such a success.
You can watch the full interview here.
Cruise is not only the star of the spy sequel but also one of its producers, which is perhaps why he is more concerned with production than some.
“As a filmmaker, you’re always looking for what’s the most cutting-edge technology, and how are we going to apply that,” Cruise says.
For Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the high production only adds to the overall appeal of the movie, instead of bogging it down with over-done special effects.
“It’s a gritty but an elegant movie,” Cruise says of Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
The grittiness is surely down to the very nature of what an action spy thriller should be, not to mention the fact that Cruise performs most of his own stunts.
Cruise broke his foot while performing a stunt for the sixth Mission Impossible movie, and once he was healed went on to do a HALO (high-altitude military parachuting) Jump.
This complicated stunt required Cruise to perform an extended free fall.
The extended free fall is a military specialist operator tactic, and it is a fall from 25,000 to 30,000 feet.
However, as the stunt was for a movie, not a military operation, there were other considerations to take into account.
At CinemaCon, Cruise told a panel he had to jump 106 times out of the plane so they could get the single-take shot right.
In addition, wholly new gear was designed for the stunt which allowed Cruise’s face to be visible, something regular gear would not have allowed.
The HALO jump stunt took more than a year to plan and execute.
Mission: Impossible 6 is enhanced, not overpowered, by its production – from sound to visuals to stunts.
Mission: Impossible – Fallout is playing in cinemas now.
