Has Kendrick Lamar just hinted at a new album?
Kendrick Lamar has hinted that the launch of his fourth studio album is imminent with a cryptic message on social media.
If deleting all past posts wasn’t enough to catch his fans’ attention, the good boy rapper posted an image of a Roman-lettered four on his Instagram page.
The “IV” could be a reference to his fourth studio album, which Kendrick has been suggesting is due for a while.
“I think now, how wayward things have gone within the past few months, my focus is ultimately going back to my community and the other communities around the world where they’re doing the groundwork,” he told The New York Times Style Magazine.
“To Pimp a Butterfly was addressing the problem. I’m in a space now where I’m not addressing the problem anymore,” he added.
“We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God.”
“Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system.”
Lamar is one of the most prolific and critically praised rappers working today, having collaborated with the likes of Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes.
His 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly was called “wry, theatrical, chaotic, ironic, and mournful, often all at once”.
But the Californian singer started out as an independent artist, mixing jazz and soul into hip hop.
Now, Lamar has seven Grammy Awards and is highly ranked in Time magazine’s most influential people in the world.
