James Bond latest odds: Who will play 007 after Daniel Craig? Who is Travis Fimmel?

Not a lot is known about the upcoming James Bond movie, but that doesn’t stop people from speculating.

The only confirmed cast member still Daniel Craig, as the eponymous spy, in what will be his last outing as Bond.

Odds on who will be the next actor to take over the role of James Bond are constantly changing, with new names being added and old names resurfacing to the top of the list.

Another addition to the ever growing list of ‘who could be the next Bond names’ is Travis Fimmel.

William Hill ranks Fimmel’s chances at 14/1, which may sound long but it is actually not as much of a longshot as Michael Fassbender or Damian Lewis.

Who is Travis Fimmel?

Fimmel is an Australian born model whose initial life plan was to be a professional Australian footballer.

When an injury put this dream on indefinite hold, Fimmel went to study commercial architecture and engineering only to defer so he could travel abroad.

When Fimmel headed to America, he was signed on the spot by LA Models after walking into their office broke and barefoot in 2002.

However, Fimmel wanted to break into acting and soon had his chance with the eponymous lead in Warner Bros TV series Tarzan.

He reportedly did his own stunts, which could be beneficial if he were cast as Bond.

Perhaps Fimmel’s biggest break came as the lead in the History channel drama Vikings for its first four seasons.

In 2013, Fimmel was nominated for the IGN Awards Best TV Hero for his role as Vikings star Ragnar Lothbrok.

His next role is in the indie film Dreamland alongside fellow Australian actress Margot Robbie.

Fimmel may be at 14 to one odds for landing the role of Bond, but as Marvel has proved many times, you can never be sure what a powerhouse franchise will do.

Other actors rumoured to be reprising their roles include Ben Wishaw as Q and Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny.

A casting call for a slew of baddies has also gone out, with no one confirmed in any further roles. 

Production on James Bond 25 is expected to begin in December 2018.
