'Dangerous' Nun teaser BANNED after huge backlash from furious viewers: WATCH it here
Horror movuis are supposed to be scary, right? Isn’t that the whole point?
The latest marketing campaign for The Conjuring spin-off The Nun has been so successful at scaring viewers there was massive backlash and Youtube was forced to take action after comments the clip could seriously endanger lives.
The problem lies with the “jump scare” tactic used, which means unsuspecting viewers have no idea they are watching a teaser for a horror movie until something jumps out and shocks them.
Enraged (and scared) viewers started an online campaign to get the footage removed and within 24 hours the teasers were gone. Of course, nothing disappears online and you can watch the offending clip below.
Horror movie fans welcome the frights when they are expected but it’s human nature to become angry if you are scared withut warning.
The onslaught of furious social media posts include: “Stupid jump scare ads like the Nun ones on YouTube are a sure fire way to make sure I will never, ever watch a movie.”
“Whoever was hired to advertise for The Nun movie and decided “yeah, a jump scare ad on YouTube would be perfect” we’re fighting. I hate that sh**”
But the one that Youtube responded to pointed out that the trailer could be potentially life-threatening for anyone with anxiety or health problems.
Most comments echoed: “These The NUN jump scare commercials must be f***ing stopped.”
But one said: “WARNING! If you see an ad on youtube with the volume sign being turned down and nothing else, ITS’ A JUMPSCARE for the new NUN movie coming out. I advise you look away and/or turn down the volume if you have anxiety or just straight up hate jumpscares. Please retweet to save a life.”
Youtube responded: “Appreciate you bringing this to our attention! This ad violates our shocking content policy and it’s no longer running as an ad.”

More comments included: “If the ad for ur horror movie is literally 1 jump scare, go f*** urself. A cheap attempt at being scary. It’s 4 seconds of a black screen with a 0.5 second jump scare…thats not gonna make me watch ur bad movie. TRY 2 make a decent trailer. I’m not naming names tho…nun at all.”
“If YouTube could NOT show me the stupid jump scare ad for that Nun movie while i’m laying in the dark with headphones that’d be GREAT.”
Valak, the demon Nun, first horrified audiences in 2016’s The Conjuring 2. The Nun, the fifth film in the universe-sharing franchise, is set 25 years prior, in the Abbey of St Carta, Romania.
The Nun is released in UK cinemas on September 7, 2019.
