Avengers 4: Could Thanos be WEAKENED by THIS Infinity War booby trap?

Fans of Marvel’s fallen heroes are looking for any way their favourites could be resurrected.

A new theory speculates Thanos’ snap in Infinity War wasn’t exactly as flawless as some might have thought.

Here’s how Thanos could be weakened by an Infinity War booby trap.

Cast your minds back to the final moments of Infinity War, when Thanos’ snap wrecked havoc on the world.

During his moment of reflection, Thanos himself told the projection of Gamora how much it had cost him to get the Infinity Stones and use the Gauntlet.

Now, director’s commentary on the digital release of Infinity War confirmed the Mad Titan was injured when he used the Gauntlet to wipe out half of existence.

The theory expands upon this, positing the damage done to Thanos was not only due to the Infinity Stones, but more to do with a failsafe built into the Gauntlet itself by Eitri, the King Of The Dwarves.

For those not as well versed with Marvel lore, Eitri is a forger with an impressive reputation for creating some of the most powerful weapons in the universe.

To create a gauntlet capable of such destruction without also building in some kind of booby-trap would not be likely, according to this theory.

The theory goes on to speculate Eitri could have imagined Thanos’ plan, given Thanos had to give Eitri some kind of requirements for the building of it.

The idea Eitri may have built in some kind of purposeful flaw to damage Thanos could make sense if Eitri was thinking that far ahead.

Not to mention, Eitri had previously crafted the Stormbreaker, a tool whose sole design was to kill Thanos.

Of course, these theories muddle the lines between the comic universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The latter has taken some liberties with its source materials, so anything relevant to the comics may not be applicable to the movies.

But the movies have, in recent years, returned to a more comic-based plot, including characters and weapons, making this theory not as implausible as it may seem.

Another fact which bolsters this theory is simply common sense.

How could the Gauntlet crumple, as it did in Infinity War, after being used for its exact purpose?

This would surely be considered a design flaw unless it was purposefully included by Eitri.

Given Thanos’ power and resilience, severely altering his state could be the first chink in the armour.

If the damage caused to Thanos by the Gauntlet itself makes him vulnerable, this gives the Avengers 4 gang a better chance at defeating him.
