Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle do this to stop skirts flying up after Canada faux pas

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, was caught out by a strong gust in Calgary, Canada, in 2011.

The leggy royal’s skirt on her pretty yellow dress was lighted up by a gust of wind, exposing her thighs.

This Marilyn Monroe moment is an unusual fashion faux pas for a member of the British aristocracy.

So, how does Kate, and now Meghan Markle, prevent their skirts from flying up now?

According to reports the pair have a clever trick to preserve their modesty.

The Queen has famously used weights in her skirts to keep them down.

Courtier Stewart Parvin said back in 2012: “I just pop a couple of weights into the hemline of her dresses and coats and it makes them hang beautifully.

“If there is a flap in the coat then I will sew in one on each side of the split to even it up.”

However, Meghan and Kate have a more modern approach. What is more, they often wear light, floaty fabrics, which would give away the presence of a weight.

Kate and Meghan use a certain type of underwear to control their hems.

According to Cosmopolitan, etiquette expert Myka Meier said: “Often they wear body suits and clothes that actually increase static so it’s much hard for something to fly up.

“So you have an under garment that is almost like a body suit that is one tactic that is used.”

She added: “If you do not use weights or heavy weighted material, you make sure it will not fly up by wearing under garments that keep the fabrics connect to your body.”

Myka Meier also revealed that one element of Meghan’s appearance would be a sign that the Duchess of Sussex is pregnant.

If Meghan Markle is pregnant her hair would change, according to Myka. 

This is because the Duchess of Sussex would have to potentially change some of the products she used.

In 2011 Meghan revealed that she has Brazilian blowouts on her hair.

However, pregnant women must avoid using the chemicals involved.
