Black Panther on Netflix: When does Black Panther head to Netflix? How to stream online
Wakanda and chill is going to be the number one activity on Marvel fan’s list.
Black Panther is the Marvel movie which brought new life into the franchise.
The movie featured stellar performances from relatively new faces like Chadwick Boseman as the eponymous hero and Michael B Jordan as Killmonger.
Fans flocked to the cinemas to see T’Challa and the rest of the Wakandan soldiers save the world in the latest Marvel flick.
Now they’ll have the chance to watch it again and again.
When does Black Panther head to Netflix? How to stream it online.
Rejoice fans, Black Panther will arrive on Netflix on September 4, 2018.
The fate of Marvel movies and living on Netflix has been a source of contention.
The long-standing deal between Marvel and Netflix has meant the superhero franchise has long wound up on Netflix after leaving the cinemas.
AVENGERS: WILL THERE BE ALL FEMALE AVENGERS STARRING EVANGELINE LILY?
But Disney has long harboured designs to create its own streaming service complete with new original titles.
The plan has made fans sceptical about the future ability to stream Marvel movies and other Disney movies on Netflix.
A Disney spokeswoman said there are “no current plans” to move Marvel-themed television shows off Netflix, but the movies may be fair game.
The New York Times carried out a deep dive into the mouse-house streaming service.
According to the paper “Starting with Captain Marvel in March [2019], all of the films that Walt Disney Studios releases in theatres will subsequently flow to the Disney streaming platform instead of to Netflix.”
This means Black Panther has plenty of time to live on Netflix, which is one of the most ubiquitous streaming sites internationally.
Once 2019 comes around, this could all change.
Disney has yet to release any details about the service, like its fee or how it will operate overseas.
Fans in the UK may continue to have access to Marvel movies like Black Panther (and other Disney movies like the Star Wars franchise) on Netflix, but nothing has been confirmed.
Black Panther’s stand out success has reinvigorated the Marvel franchise, already dominating box offices, and a sequel is already in the works.
In March 2018, Marvel head Kevin Feige said there was “nothing specific to reveal” in terms of a sequel, but that there “absolutely” were “ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one.”
Until that point, fans will have to satisfy their urge for all things Wakanda by heading to Netflix.
Black Panther is on Netflix September 4, 2018.
