Avengers 4 director gives BIG UPDATE on Avengers Infinity War’s sequel
It’s not out until next April and we still don’t know the real title, but Avengers 4’s post-production is well under way.
One half of the director siblings, Anthony Russo, revealed he and Joe had been hard at work on Marvel‘s Avengers Infinity War sequel over the summer months.
Speaking with Deadline, he said: “We’ve worked on the edit all summer and we’re excited to finally get these missing pieces in the film and then we expect to be in post through the fall and winter.
“We hope to be done by March.”
Interestingly March is just a month before Avengers 4 is released and so completion on the highly-anticipated movie should coincide with the release of Captain Marvel.
Brie Larson’s 1990s-set solo movie prequel will hit cinemas on March 8 and is set to hint at how she will be of help to the Avengers in Avengers 4.
Anthony Russo added: “It was so gratifying that in a movie with this scope and scale and that wide of an audience, that we were able to end with a gut punch and yet the audience stayed with us and found value and kept coming back.”
The filmmaker was also asked what the best fan reaction to Avengers Infinity War’s ending was.
Anthony revealed it was a 10-year-old child who cried over Spider-Man’s death.
He said: “The best reaction was probably that 10-year old kid crying and asking us why we killed Spider-Man.
“From the time we came to Marvel, our goal was to surprise the audience and not give them the same thing but rather to challenge them.”
Avengers 4 is a direct sequel to Avengers Infinity War and may beat it’s overall box office.
Much of the plot remains a mystery and with half the universe having died in Thanos’ snap it’s not going to be an easy ride for the Avengers.
Time travel and inter-dimensional travel is rumoured in a sequel the Russos say will be very different to its predecessor.
Avengers 4 will be released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
