Actor cut off his own arm with a SAW then LIED to get more work

It sounds like something from a horror movie.

In 2001 Latourrette used a skilsaw to chop off half of his right arm at the elbow.

A year later he starred in Unspeakable and since then has been seen on the big screen alongside George Clooney in 2009’s The Men Who Stare At Goats, as well as various televisin shows like Better Call Saul, Longmire, Messenger and Manhattan. 

Now the actor has confessed live on air that he lied to everyone about what happened and deceived the industry with “dishonourable” stories about being an army veteran in order to get more work.

The actor has previously gone on record that he suffers from bipolar disorder, but that he did not take medications for many years.

He told local Albuquerque TV channel KOB-TV about the day he sawed off his arm: “The state of my mind was a psychotic episode.

“The film industry took a different angle, that I was different, and so they liked that. They trusted me that I was exactly who I said I was. I was a war veteran. I was hired because I lied.

“I was dishonourable. I’m killing my career by doing this, if anyone thinks this was for personal edification, that’s not the case. I’m ousting myself from the New Mexico film Industry. And gladly so, just to say what I’ve said.”

The actor said that he hopes his story will educate others and also encourage anyone in a similar position to be more mindful of the treatments available.

He added: “The power is in your hands to take your medication in the morning, or at night.”

In 2016 he detailed his experinces in the autobiographical book Consumed. 

At the time he said: “For many years, I did not seek available support systems (namely, medications), and thus my life was purely self-destructive…not only to me, but also to my ceaselessly loving family, whom had to witness my inner turmoil, and outwardly projection of such.”
