Adam Lambert speaks out on NEW Queen album with Brian May and Roger Taylor
Following Freddie Mercury’s untimely death in 1991, Queen released a fifteenth and final studio album in 1995. Titled Made in Heaven, the record featured vocal and piano parts recorded by the late singer before he died, mixed with new instrumentation. A couple of years later Queen bassist John Deacon left the band, while Brian May and Roger Taylor have kept the music alive with collaborations. And for the last few years, Queen and Adam Lambert have been touring together, enjoying a resurgence of popularity following the success of Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.
Speaking with Planet Rock on the accomplishments of Bohemian Rhapsody, Lambert said: “Queen is a big family at this point. And I think that the success of the film exceeded every expectation.
As each wave of success has happened, Brian and Roger have been so excited and so proud, and that’s been great to watch.
“I’ve been thrilled to be working with these guys from the get-go, and I’m incredibly grateful and incredibly humbled to continue with this band.
“Especially with this new chapter where’s there’s all this renewed pop culture relevance.
“It’s very exciting to see them light up when the lights turn on.”
A few weeks ago, Lambert spoke out on his upcoming gigs with Queen on The Jonathan Ross show.
Asked by the host what it was like to take on iconic tracks as a stand-in for Freddie Mercury, the singer said: “Eight years.
“It’s such an honour to be up there with Brian May and Roger Taylor, to sing these incredible, iconic songs.
“To see audiences full of nostalgia, going through their youth.
“It’s a dream come true.”
