Twenty years ago the classic teen comedy was released in cinemas and was swiftly followed by two sequels and four spin-offs. Then come 2012 and the original cast returned for a fourth direct sequel titled American Reunion. But now they’re back again, not for a film, but a 20th-anniversary meet-up to celebrate the first film. Appearing on Entertainment Tonight, were Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Chris Klein, Natasha Lyonne and Tara Reid.

On being reunited, Jim star Biggs said: “Honestly, whenever I see this group, it really just takes me back and it feels like no time has passed.

“Personally, I felt like we were part of something special and it was really interesting because…the internet was kinda happening but not.”

Asked what fans shout at them in the street, Finch star Thomas said they just bark “Stifler’s mom!”

While Reid said she had young women asking her if they should lose their virginity.

Asked if any of the original cast hooked up on set and Lyonne alluded that Scott asked her out, something the others knew nothing about.

She then admitted to having a crush on Thomas, something that he said was “a missed opportunity for me.”

While Biggs revealed he took a liking to Hannigan before Reid admitted she had a crush on Scott.

But will the original cast ever return for an American Pie 5?

Well back in 2015, Reid took KIISFM’s Kyle & Jackie O that “there’s actually talks about [a fifth movie], they may be doing it in Las Vegas.’ 

However, when Scott was asked just two years, he cast doubt on American Pie 5.

Speaking with Forbes, he said: “[American Reunion] went on to make over $140 million overseas, in some territories, it doubled the take of the previous one.

“But I think the studio cooled on the idea of doing another American Pie because of that domestic take.”
