Ant-Man and the Wasp after credit scene: Captain Marvel end credits link to Avengers 4?

Ant-Man 2 has buzzed into cinemas packing quite a sting on its opening night.

Formerly regarded as one of the, well, smaller Marvel properties, the new movie is channeling those Pym Particles to punch way above its weight.

This is mainly due to its crucial position in between Avengers 3 and 4 and one of the end credit scenes is a clear lead into Captain Marvel.

And it all starts with those Pym Particles and what Scott Lang is doing in that crucual last scene.

WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS 

Unlucky British Marvel fans will have to wait another four weeks to see the movie, but it is already on wide release across much of the globe.

After early reactions to preview sceenings teased what to expect, the two end credit scenes have been confirmed. The first shows one of Scott’s ant buddies playing the drums in a clip which had already been released online.

The other scene is far more important, and devastating. It places the end of Ant-Man 2 at precisely the moment that Thanos uses the Gauntlet and snaps out half of all life across the universe.

WHAT ARE PYM PARTICLES? HOW DO THEY WORK? DOES THE SCIENCE MAKE SENSE?

Unfortunately, that includes Janet Van Dyne and both Hope and Hank Pym.

It also leaves Scott trapped in the Quantum Realm, where they had sent him to collect samples.

The movie has already expanded our vision of the Quantum Realm and also shown mind-bending, technicoloured ‘trippy’ vistas which look very simlar to Doctor Strange’s multiple dimensions.

The next movie is Captain Marvel and in the comics she moves between dimensions and timelines. She is also currently in the 1980s in her standalone movie and will need to somehow receive Nick Fury’s message, understand it and then make her way to the present day. 

Will Scott Lang find a way to navigate dimensional and time streams? Will he make contact with Captain Marvel?

This latest theory is gathering momentum, although it ignores the fact that Scott was trapped when The Snap happened, so he does not know about it.

However, it seems almost certain that Scott’s use of the Pym Particles and their abilities will play a part in the defeat of Thanos in Avengers 4.
