Ant-Man and The Wasp fans in the UK will have to wait almost a month longer than their USA counterparts for their favourite heroes to return to the cinema.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is out in UK cinemas on Monday, 6 August 2018, and fans in the UK are not happy about it.

Fans of the Ant-Man and The Wasp started an e-petition trying to get Marvel to shift the release date to align with the USA’s.

The petition reads: “How can we go a month without spoilers?”

The reasoning behind the Ant-Man and the Wasp belated release date is sound, if annoying.

Marvel stated it doesn’t want Ant-Man and the Wasp’s release date to conflict with the FIFA World Cup, which starts June 14, 2018.

Ant-Man and The Wasp fans aren’t buying it, and the online petition adds: “You can watch the World Cup and watch a movie as well.”

Film distributors are worried The FIFA World Cup live final on 15 July will clash with the July 6 Ant-Man and The Wasp release date in America.

Luckily, UK fans don’t have to wait as long as Italy (14 August) or Japan (31 August) for Ant-Man and The Wasp to be released.

Other reasons Ant-Man and The Wasp release date in the UK is so far away has to do with the upcoming debut of Pixar’s Incredibles 2.

Not to mention Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is still stomping through cinemas.

The month break gives Ant-Man and The Wasp enough breathing room to not compete with the Universal dinosaur blockbuster.

These reasons are not placating the wrath of Ant-Man and The Wasp fans.

Marvel does have precedent for moving release dates.

Marvel upped the release of Avengers: Infinity War, which helped contain spoilers and lead to the biggest global opening of all time.
