Aquaman actor: Who plays Aquaman in 2018 movie? Who is Khal Drogo actor Jason Momoa?

Jason Momoa won the hearts of fans all over the world when he appeared in Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo.

Despite his initial gruff personality, eventually Danerys softened him up and fans, too, fell in love with him.

Momoa was involved in the film industry long before he took up the role as the chieftain of the Dothraki in Game of Thrones, however.

Momoa was discovered in 1998 by a designer Takeo Kobayashi, who encouraged his modelling career.

He worked part-time in a surf shop before being cast, at 19, in the action drama series Baywatch Hawaii, where he appeared as Jason Ioane.

His next major role was as part of the Candian-American series Stargate Atlantis from 2005 to 2009.

But it was the role of Khal Drogo which brought Jason Momoa into nearly everyone’s living rooms, and hearts.

He starred as Danerys’ husband from 2011 to 2012, though rumours are abound speculating he may return in the newest Game of Thrones season.

Momoa directed and co-wrote Road to Paloma (2014), an American drama thriller film, together with writers Jonathan Hirschbein and Robert Homer Mollohan.

Currently, Momoa stars in the Netflix show Frontier, playing Declan Harp, a half-Cree, half-Irish trapper waging his own war with the British during the days of the fur trade in Early Canada.

Now, Momoa is set to star in the Aquaman stand-alone movie titled, you guessed it, Aquaman.

Arthur Curry (aka Aquaman) is a half-Atlantean half-human who is reluctant to be king of the undersea nation of Atlantis.

He has the ability to manipulate the tides of the ocean, communicate with other aquatic life, swim at supersonic speeds, and possesses superhuman strength.

The solo movie isn’t Momoa’s first time picking up the trident.

He appeared in the adaptation of DC Comics‘ Justice League, produced by Warner Bros.

The Justice League movie received praise for its action sequences and performances but mixed critical reviews.

The standalone movie, however, hopes to tap into some of the success garnered by Wonder Woman.

And with Momoa as the star, it just might be possible.
