Arsenal boss Unai Emery reveals why he signed Kieran Tierney – ‘We’re delighted’
Tierney completed his medical at London Colney on transfer deadline day and will immediately join his new team-mates ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League kick-off.
Emery is delighted to have the Scotland international at the Gunners as he has immense talent that will only get better in the near future.
The Arsenal boss also believes he will add a lot more options to the north London club’s fragile defence.
Emery told Arsenal’s official website: “We’re delighted Kieran is joining us.
“He’s a very talented player who will continue to improve.
“He increases our options defensively and I look forward to him joining our group.”
Tierney had been a top target for Arsenal throughout the summer transfer window.
The highly-rated left-back enjoyed an incredible four-year stint at Celtic where he made a staggering 170 appearances even though he is only 22 years old.
The defender has also won four consecutive Scottish Premiership titles with the Hoops.
Tierney became Arsenal’s fifth signing following a busy summer.
The Premier League giants landed Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano Futebol Clube for an undisclosed fee as well as William Saliba, whom they loaned back to St Etienne.
Dani Ceballos followed from Real Madrid on a loan deal as did ex-Lille star Nicolas Pepe for a club-record £72m.
Chelsea star David Luiz is also strongly linked with a move that could be announced before 7pm.
