Avengers 4: Big clue THIS character WON’T appear after Infinity War despite rumours?
Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter was such a good character in the MCU that she even briefly got her own TV series.
There wasn’t any need in the Infinity War story for her to appear, but rumours of a comeback in Avengers 4 have been rife since she shared a photo of herself in what appeared to be some kind of CGI gear last year, which could have been used to tweak her age – like in her Ant Man cameo in 2015.
She has always remained coy on whether or not she’s back, which is to be expected given the level of secrecy around Marvel projects – but she’s just dropped one enormous hint that she’s not involved in Avengers 4 at all.
In a new interview to promote Christopher Robin, she claimed not to even know who Thanos – ostensibly the main character of the new Avengers movies – is.
“Who’s Thanos? I really don’t… I don’t mean to sound trite but I’ve no idea,” she told Digital Spy.
Asked how Peggy would deal with him, she shrugged: “He’s the big guy? You’d have to ask Marvel.
“They create Peggy, I just inhabit it.”
It was last September when Atwell shared a picture to Instagram with recognisable CGI dots on her face.
She didn’t say at the time what she was filming, and she’s certainly a busy enough actress for it not to have been Avengers 4 – but it was more than enough to raise hopes for a Peggy return on the big screen.
Very little is known about the actual events of the blockbuster, which hits cinemas on a wave of huge anticipation and hype next spring.
Infinity War, of course, ended with half of all living things in the universe being wiped out by Thanos, after he successfully collected all six of the Infinity Stones.
The surviving Avengers – among them Captain America (Chris Evans), with whom Peggy Carter is obviously most likely to share screen-time – will presumably set about trying to bring down the supervillain and somehow undo the bloodbath.
People who are confirmed to be showing up are Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, after she was strongly alluded to in the Infinity War end credits scene.
Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye are also thought to be popping up, after neither was seen last time around. Evangeline Lily has confirmed that The Wasp will be seen, though only briefly.
Joe and Anthony Russo will be overseeing reshoots of the movie in the autumn, presumably in as much secrecy as possible.
Avengers 4 is out on April 26, 2019.
