Avengers 4: Captain America DEATH rumours addressed by Chris Evans – after ‘goodbye’ tweet

The Marvel favourite is expected to bow out of the MCU with the release of the upcoming blockbuster, which is currently wrapping up reshoots in Atlanta, USA, and follows the shocking events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Speculation has since gone into overdrive about what this means for Steve Rogers, with many taking it as confirmation that he will be killed off – as many fan theories had already suggested.

Evans had tweeted on October 4: “Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least.

“Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honour. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”

Now, speaking at ACE Comic Con in Chicago, he has clarified his remarks.

“I should clarify that I know I did tweet something that made a lot of people think that it was in someway a spoiler,” he said, according to Mail Online.

“I should clarify that regardless of how Avengers 4 ends, I would have tweeted the exact same thing.

“That last day of filming was a very emotional day and it was the culmination of almost 10 years of filming and 22 movies, this unbelievable tapestry.

“You feel a lot more emotions than I think even I thought I’d feel. And I felt it was appropriate to share the gratitude.

“I know it had a ripple effect but I am neither confirming or denying anything!”

Evans has made no secret in recent years of the fact his lucrative contract coming to an end – and hinted that he will not renew it.

Similarly, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has alluded to the fact that the MCU will undergo something of a shake-up after Avengers 4, with new heroes stepping up to take the leading roles.

Those new heroes presumably include the likes of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman).

Larson will, in fact, front the next Marvel movie to hit screens: Captain Marvel’s titular outing will introduce fans to Carol Danvers’ alter ego when it lands next March.

Others in development include Spider-Man: Far From Home and the troubled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

Avengers 4 is out on April 26, 2019 in the UK.
