Avengers 4 Endgame trailer: Fans DISTRAUGHT at brutal Tony Stark twist – is this the end?

Avengers: Endgame will bring Phase Four of Marvel’s MCU storytelling to a close when it releases next spring. Tony, played by Robert Downey Jr, has been heavily rumoured to be making his exit in the film – so does the trailer allude to that already? Whatever the case, fans are worried for him.

We open the trailer with him drifting through space, running out of food and water – and, soon, oxygen.

This could be immediately following the end of Infinity War, which would imply that Nebula (Karen Gillan) is potentially on the same ship.

Recording a message for his partner Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow), he says: “OK, Ms Potts… if you find this recording, don’t feel bad about this.

“Part of the journey is the end.”

He adds: “Just for the record, being adrift in space with zero promise of rescue is more fun than it sounds.

“Food and water ran out four days ago, oxygen will run out tomorrow morning. And that’ll be it.

“When I drift of, I will dream about you. It’s always you.”

Tony Stark has quickly become a top trending topic on Twitter, with fans rushing to express their fears.

“Yo you can kill every other hero but if Tony Stark dies imma really be sick #AvengersEndgame,” said one.

“TONY STARK MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS. REPEAT AFTER ME: TONY STARK MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS,” another wrote.

“the first 45 seconds of the avengers 4 trailer is just tony stark suffering, stuck in space, living his biggest fear and making his message for pepper because he doesn’t even know if she’s alive… yeah, tony suffering what’s new,” said a third.

“tony stark is the heart and soul of the marvel cinematic universe. he’s risen from the ashes and proved everyone wrong every single time. he started this, and he’s going to end it. nobody could ever compare. #AvengersEndgame,” another person wrote.

Joking about the title, one MCU fan quipped: “avengers: end tony stark’s suffering please game.”

Avengers: Endgame is out on April 26 in the UK and May 3 in the US.
