Avengers 4: Peggy Carter ‘end credits scene with Captain America’ gets BIG support

Speculation has been running abound that Chris Evans’ Captain America will be bowing out of the MCU in some way in the next film, which will pick up from the tragic events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Rumours have also been doing the rounds that Hayley Atwell could make an appearance as Peggy Carter, the Cap’s iconic love interest.

The pair famously never got to have their planned romantic dance back in Captain America: The First Avenger, and Twitter user @quill_rocket has thought up the perfect coda to not only Avengers 4 but to Steve Rogers’ story.

They tweeted: “WHAT IF STEVE DIES IN AVENGERS 4 AND THE POST CREDIT SCENE IS HIM WALKING INTO AN OLD EMPTY DANCE HALL (the one in the aou vision) AND YOU HEAR PEGGY’S VOICE SAYING ‘youre late…’”

The tweet has generated 19,000 Retweets and just under 100,000 Likes since being posted at the end of last week, generating huge enthusiasm from fellow Marvel fans.

“I got chills seriously,” replied one person.

“Wow!!!! I’d be happy and sad simultaneously,” said another.

As it stands, Atwell has given the impression that she won’t be back – despite heavy rumours to the contrary last year.

In fact, in a recent interview she didn’t even know who Thanos (Josh Brolin) is.

“Who’s Thanos? I really don’t… I don’t mean to sound trite but I’ve no idea,” she told Digital Spy.

Asked how Peggy would deal with him, she shrugged: “He’s the big guy? You’d have to ask Marvel.

“They create Peggy, I just inhabit it.”

It was last September when she shared a picture to Instagram with recognisable CGI dots on her face.

She didn’t say at the time what she was filming, and she’s certainly a busy enough actress for it not to have been Avengers 4 – but it was more than enough to raise hopes for a Peggy return on the big screen.

People who are confirmed to be showing up are Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, after she was strongly alluded to in the Infinity War end credits scene.

Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye are also thought to be popping up, after neither was seen last time around. Evangeline Lily has confirmed that The Wasp will be seen, though only briefly.
