Avengers 4: Spider-Man star Tom Holland faces 'back from the dead' questions on live TV

The British actor plays Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and has recently completed work on both Avengers 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

But there’s one big problem: his character was one of many who was seemingly killed off at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

Holland made a surprise appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, where he revealed his new Far From Home suit.

But Kimmel couldn’t resist asking about his character’s fate.

After a skit that involved him trying to find his mask, Kimmel said: “You have to get back to set? Are you making another movie?”

“Spider-Man: Far From Home, next summer in theatres,” Holland replied, still in character.

Kimmel pushed: “Is this movie a prequel? Because at the end of Infinity War you turned into, like, black confetti.”

Evasive Holland said: “I think Thanos is robbing a bank so I’m gonna go…”

“Why would Thanos rob a bank?” Kimmel asked.

“Because Thanos poor,” Holland quipped as he ran away.

Many of the Marvel favourites are expected to return in Avengers 4, despite meeting an ashy end in Infinity War.

The likes of Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Pom Klementieff (Mantis) and Dave Bautista (Drax) have all been reporting for reshoots in Atlanta, USA; although it remains to be seen how they will impact the film’s story going forward.

Current popular fan theories include time travel, the use of the quantum realm, and the use of the Soul Stone.

Before Avengers 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home hit screens, however, fans will get their introduction to Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers – as the 1990s-set Captain Marvel is released in early 2019.

That film will set up Danvers’ Avengers arrival, in which she is expected to play a key role.

Avengers 4 is out on April 26, 2019 in the UK.
