Avengers 4 title: War Machine actor Don Cheadle teases fans over Avengers 4 title

Following in the footsteps of his co-star Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle has taken to teasing Marvel fans.

The title of the upcoming Avengers movie, the final instalment of Phase III, has been kept under wraps.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige previously told fans they’d have to wait until after the Captain Marvel teaser for the Avengers 4 title.

Well, the teaser has come and gone, and fans are still none the wiser.

The Internet has provided fans with all manner of outlet to speculate what the title might be.

Reddit has been a hotbed of suspicion, and Don Cheadle took to Twitter to join the conversation.

In response to a fan’s question, the actor wrote: “I shouldn’t do this, but because I love you all so much I’ll give you a hint.

“The title will incorporate letters that will be organised in a coherent fashion with the express purpose of communicating to the consumer the content of the film. (I’m [in] so much trouble…).”

This is obviously a blatant leg-pull, and fan response has been equally light-hearted.

Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner aka the Hulk, pulled a similar – but far more elaborate – stunt.

The directing duo – the Russo brothers – took to Twitter themselves to inform everyone Avengers 4 reshoots had finished.

The tweet was accompanied by a cryptic photo which no one, so far, has deciphered but plenty of people have been speculating about.

Some fans suspected the photo was of Adam Warlock’s cocoon.

Others theorised the bright blue image could be anything from Bucky’s elbow to a condenser microphone.

While Cheadle’s faux-teaser is clearly a joke, no one can accuse the man of lying.

Annihilation is the most likely title for Avengers 4, but the Russo brothers may surprise us yet.

AVENGERS: WILL THERE BE ALL FEMALE AVENGERS STARRING EVANGELINE LILY?

Avengers: Annihilation would be an apt title, as it fulfils the Russo’s previous claim that the title would be a spoiler for Infinity War.

The title also fits into the prevailing fan theory that the original generation Avengers will sacrifice themselves to bring back the newer heroes.

Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr are all facing the end of their contracts with Avengers 4.

Ruffalo also has a six-movie contract, of which Avengers 4 could be the last, presuming cameos don’t count towards that final number.

Brie Larson as Captain Marvel is set to be the new face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and her solo movie debuts in March 2019.

Avengers 4 is out in cinemas April 26, 2019.
