Avengers Captain Marvel movie cast just added MAJOR Hollywood star

As Thanos rampages across the universe and Infinity War gobbles up the global box office it’s time to look to the future.

It may seem neither bright nor orange after the cataclysmic finale to Avengers 3 but there is a shining hero on the horizon.

Captain Marvel will hit cinemas next March, just over a month before Avengers 4 brings the entire Marvel Phases 1, 2 and 3 to a close.

The movie already boasts a stellar cast but has just added another acting heavyweight and multiple Oscar nominee.

The Hollywood Reporter said: “Annette Bening is signing on for her first comic book movie.

“The four-time Oscar nominee is joining Brie Larson in Captain Marvel, Marvel Studios’ first female-led feature film… Details on Bening’s character are being kept hidden deep in the Kree Empire, but “scientist” is said to be in her job description.”

The in-joke about the Kree refers to the film’s plot. As for Bening’s role, many commentators are already confidently declaring her expected role.

The consensus seems to be that Bening will play the mother of Carol Danvers, the woman who is transformed into Captain Marvel.

The film’s plot is set in the 1990’s and linked to the comicbook storyline where Danvers gets caught up in the war between the alien Kree and Skrulls.  

Somehow the US Air Force pilot absorbs the powers of a Kree and becomes one of the most powerful beings in the universe.

The Captain Marvel movie has a March 8, 2019, release date but no UK date has been revealed yet.

The film also features Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn and Gemma Chan. Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace also star, reprising their evil characters from the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Larson is expected to also feature in Avengers 4, with many believing Captain Marvel will be integral to the plans to defeat Thanos and reverse the effects of The Snap which wiped out half of all life at the end of Avengers 3.
