Avengers Captain Marvel: Will Brie Larson superhero be the face of Marvel Phase 4?
Marvel’s CineEurope presentation featured the biggest and most anticipated titles of the convention.
Despite the excitement, no actual footage was shown at the convention but some rumours were confirmed and other theories debunked.
Will Captain Marvel be the face of Marvel Phase 4?
Yes, as confirmed from the horse’s mouth himself, Kevin Feige.
At the CineEurope presentation, Feige shared a few details about the upcoming Captain Marvel movie.
He also apologised for having fewer heroes to talk up after Thanos wreaked some serious destruction in Avengers: Infinity War, potentially killing off a huge array of the team.
But Feige also confirmed for fans the rest of the Avengers will need to team up to save the world from the mad titan.
But Marvel wasn’t about to leave fans with nothing but speculation.
Marvel also debuted a sizzle reel for Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson.
Featurettes tend to include snippets of concept art, behind-the-scenes set footage, interviews with cast and crew, and other never-before-seen details.
Though no footage from the convention has made its way online as security was exceptionally tight.
However, an unnamed cast/crew member in the featurette said: “Captain Marvel is about to take the lead in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Captain Marvel stars Academy Award winner Brie Larson as the eponymous superhero Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.
Samuel L Jackson is taking up his role as Nick Fury, alongside Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson.
Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou (Korath) and Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva) will also star in Captain Marvel.
Most excitingly, Jude Law will appear as Marv-Vell, the alien whose DNA fused with Danvers’ to give Captain Marvel her powers.
Whether or not a trailer will be online any time soon is anyone’s bet.
For context, the first teaser for Black Panther arrived on June 9, 2017, before the film was released in February 2018.
Doing the maths, with a Captain Marvel release date of March of 2019, we can hope for a trailer in early July.
Captain Marvel will be in cinemas Friday, March 8, 2019.
