Avengers Endgame: Directors give surprising UPDATE on Avengers 4

The blockbuster, previously referred to as Avengers 4, will wrap up the current ‘phase’ of Marvel storytelling, and is the sequel to this year’s enormously successful Avengers: Infinity War. In a recent update, the Russo brothers said the film was currently around three hours long, presumably pending trims. But now, it seems that may be the approximate length of it after all.

In a recent interview, they confirmed that the huge amount of story is making it tricky to find things to chop out.

“There’s a high probability that this movie will clock in at around three hours,” they told Empire.

“It’s a big movie with a lot of story.”

For comparison, Infinity War ran at two-and-a-half hours.

Avengers: Endgame had its first trailer release earlier this month, finally revealing its official title.

Whilst not giving much away at all in terms of the actual plot, it did reveal the survivors of the Snap looking pretty sombre indeed about the loss of 50% of the population.

It achieved a staggering 289 million plays online in its first 24 hours; a new record – surpassing Infinity War’s 230 million debut.

The promo also lit up Twitter with 549,000 mentions in the first 24 hours.

It’ll be a busy year for Marvel next year, not just with Endgame.

Captain Marvel, released in early March, will introduce Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers to the MCU.

Attention then turns back to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home, due out in the summer.

Avengers: Endgame is out on April 26.
