Avengers Endgame ENDING: Epic Captain America SPOILER that must have happened OFF-SCREEN

WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS ENDGAME AHEAD The final scenes of Avengers Endgame gave endings for the Avengers trinity in Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. After defeating Thanos, Steve Rogers was given a suitcase with the Infinity Stones in and Mjolnir to return them to where they were borrowed from in the MCU’s past. Before entering the Quantum Realm, Professor Hulk told Cap that he’d count him back in five seconds after he left.

However, Cap never returned. Instead, he returned the stones and Thor’s hammer and then used the remaining Pym particles to travel back to WWII and finally have the life with Peggy he never had – something that it appears Bucky already knew he was going to do.

Obviously, we can only imagine what his adventure back through time was like to return the stones.

But here’s the thing: Cap must have returned the Soul Stone to Vormir where his arch-nemesis Red Skull is.

The Hydra villain was the main baddie in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger but was seemingly disintegrated by the Space Stone in WWII.

Come Avengers Infinity War, the big surprise was that the Tesseract had actually transported him to Vormir, where he had spent the last seven decades as Keeper of the Soul Stone.

After his cameo with Thanos and Gamora, fans had wondered if Cap and Red Skull would have a rematch/reunion in Avengers Endgame.

Sadly, this didn’t happen since it was Black Widow and Hawkeye who encountered Red Skull at Vormir in their trip back in time to 2014.

However, it must have done off-screen when Cap returned the Soul Stone to Vormir on his trip back in time.

DID THIS FAN FAVOURITE CHARACTER SURVIVE?

It must have been a bit of a shocking and awkward reunion for the two old rivals.

Maybe they had a fight? Hopefully, Marvel will release a comic to fill in the blanks of that trip back in time at some point.

That is unless, Red Skull left his duty as Keeper of the Soul Stone after it had been obtained by Hawkeye – but it would be a shame if Cap and Red Skull didn’t have some sort of reencounter.
