Avengers Endgame: New footage CONFIRMS major Captain Marvel theory?
The Marvel epic is out in cinemas later this month, poised to become the biggest movie of the year – and, potentially, of all time.
When a full trailer launched online earlier this year after the Super Bowl, fans were convinced that a character had been edited out of one particular shot.
The space between characters aroused suspicion as they walked across a field at night.
Given that the clip was released in February before Captain Marvel’s own movie hit cinemas, it was speculated that it was Carol Danvers herself who had been omitted.
Now, a new TV spot could confirm that was indeed the case.
The latest 15-second advert reveals Danvers in what appears to be the exact same location as that scene in the previous trailer.
An alternative explanation is that she was who the others – Natasha Romanoff, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner and James Rhodes – were looking up at the sky towards.
Whatever the case, hype is continuing to build for the film – and the voiceover on the new spot reveals: “Every journey has an Endgame.”
Captain America says: “This’ll be the fight of our lives.”
We’re also given a look at a group of the heroes heading into space, with Rocket quipping: “Who hasn’t been to space? You’d better not throw up on my ship.”
Catastrophe appeared to strike Marvel overnight when a big chunk of footage leaked online – seemingly from the closing act of the film.
The leak sparked a huge effort by many fans to keep sites like Twitter spoiler-free for as long as possible, with many condemning those responsible for the incident.
Joe Russo recently spoke out on the very nature of spoilers and leaks, telling Box Office Pro: “I think this one has even more spoilers than the last one [Avengers: Infinity War].
“This is a culture that wants everything now, and it’s getting worse. The world is connected via social media, and information travels within seconds.
“If you’ve been following along with this narrative for 10 years, you’re going to want to protect yourself. It’s best to go in clean.
“I encourage people to go opening weekend because I’m sure everything is going to hit the internet the moment the movie hits the screen.”
Avengers: Endgame is out on April 25 in the UK.
