Avengers: Endgame is in the midst of its opening weekend and has already broken box office records. Though there is no post-credits scene so to speak, there is a post-credits nod to this character. Warning: there are major spoilers for Avengers: Endgame below, so read at your own caution.

Did you hear the post-credits nod to Iron Man?

Anyone who has seen the movie knows the heartbreaking way in which Iron Man, aka Tony Stark, dies.

He uses the newly crafted Infinity Gauntlet to snap out of existence Thanos, his Black Order, and Outriders.

This grants the Avengers the victory over Thanos, finally restoring good to the universe.

But the gauntlet is so powerful it also kills Iron-Man, which he knew would happen when he snapped his fingers.

AVENGERS ENDGAME SPOILERS: IS THIS A BIG HINT ABOUT THOR 4?

Tony Stark’s funeral is one of the final moments of the movie.

And while fans knew there was no post-credits scene, those who stuck around were treated to a little surprise.

As the final crawl rolls out and the Marvel Studios logo fills the screen, the sound of metal clanking can be heard.

The sound is simply something like metal clashing, a hammer striking metal, and many fans likened the sound to Tony Stark building his first Iron Man suit, the Mark I, while in captivity in Afghanistan.

Many believe the sound is a throwback from the first Iron Man film as the Marvel universe’s inaugural hero was hammering down the mask for his escape armour.

AVENGERS ENDGAME FAN REACTIONS: FANS CHEERED ‘F*** YEAH!’ AND WEPT

In the first Iron Man film, composer Ramin Djawadi’s aptly titled “Mark I” track from the official soundtrack plays in the background.

But in the bittersweet, poignant nod at the end of Endgame, it seems the Russos stripped the track down to just the sound of the hammer hitting metal.

Fans have faced every emotion imaginable with the release of Endgame, but this final moment has hit home for many Marvel enthusiats.

One fan tweeted: “Am still hoping for Iron Man 4 considering the last piece of metal sound during credits was Tony’s arrival from somewhere.. Make it possible.”

AVENGERS ENDGAME: WHO WAS THAT SURPRISE CAMEO IN HEARTBREAKING MOMENT

A second said: “There was a hammer sound at the very end tho, it was kind of a tribute, I guess to Iron man, making his first suit.”

Another posted onTiwtter: “Those who are unfamiliar with the sound, that “blacksmith” was Tony Stark making the very first Iron Man suit. The one that started it all.”

Almost every Marvel movie has had a post-credits scene.

Ant-Man and the Wasp’s mid-credits scene coincided exactly with the moment Thanos snapped half of life out of existence.

AVENGERS ENDGAME REVIEWS: ‘EMOTIONAL’ AND ‘IMPACTFUL’ END TO SERIES

And the Captain Marvel post-credits scene tied directly into Avengers Endgame.

Avengers: Endgame is three hours long, but the overall consensus is it doesn’t feel long.

The penultimate Phase Three movie has done exceptionally well, currently holding 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Metacritic, however, gives Endgame a 78 based on 51 reviews.

Avengers: Endgame is now playing in cinemas.
