Avengers Endgame producer teases ‘UNIQUE’ Marvel Phase 4 after Spider-Man Far From Home

This year we’re getting three Marvel Cinematic Universe movies in Captain Marvel, Avengers Endgame and Spider-Man Far From Home. Fans will know that Avengers Endgame marks the end of not only Marvel Phase 3 in the franchise but also the first MCU saga. After all, MCU figureheads like Iron Man and Captain America are being retired for the likes of Captain Marvel to lead the way forward. Spider-Man Far From Home is the first movie in this reboot of sorts, but just what is coming afterwards?

Well, Marvel boss Kevin Feige doesn’t want to reveal those until Avengers Endgame is released.

After all, sequels for characters who perished in Infinity War – like Black Panther and Doctor Strange – are in the works even though they haven’t been officially announced.

But what about the tone of the franchise going forward?

If anything Captain Marvel is a taste of what’s to come according to Feige.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Feige said: “The making of a first film is in some ways a brainstorm on the future and on what can be.

“So what it will be again is not clear. But what it could be is pretty amazing.” 

As for what’s coming in Marvel Phase 4, Feige teased to Collider: “Everything after Endgame, and after Spider-Man: Far From Home, will be different and be unique, as we try to make every film.

“But seeing returning characters is certainly something we’re gonna do and want to do.”

He added: “But also introducing characters that the majority of the world has never heard of, much like Guardians, much like Avengers before we made Avengers. And there are lots of them.

“Eternals are one group, but we like the idea of introducing ensemble, doing an ensemble movie from the start, as opposed to building up as we did with the first Avengers, more like Guardians, not tonally, but in terms of introducing a new group of people.”

Official announcements of Marvel Phase 4 movies are expected to be unveiled at San Diego Comic Con this summer.

Avengers Endgame will be released in UK cinemas on April 25, 2019.
