Avengers Endgame SHOCK: Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr returning to MCU for THIS?

The source, who correctly revealed that Ewan McGregor would return as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Robert Pattinson would play Batman, claims Downey Jr will feature in Ironheart.

But how exactly when Iron Man died in Avengers Endgame?

Well, apparently Tony Stark will be back in a voiceover capacity as the guiding A.I. of Ironheart’s suit.

Interestingly, there was a very similar rumour earlier this year, but of Downey Jr voicing the A.I. in Spider-Man’s suit for Spider-Man Far From Home.

However, this didn’t come to pass, and now with Spider-Man looking to leave the MCU with Sony, perhaps this mentorship role will be transferred to Ironheart in the MCU going forward.

Additionally, Downey Jr backed Ironheart replacing Iron Man in the MCU just a couple of months ago.

The star made the announcement at the Renaissance Gala at the Gene Siskel Film Centre in June.

A witness tweeted: “The real story here is that @RobertDowneyJr said publicly in a room full of people that #Ironheart should be in the MCU.”

They added: “I went straight back to the press area afterward and was like YOU ALL HEARD IT, WRITE THAT DOWN.”

Marvel Studios have promised a much more diverse line-up of superheroes from Phase 4 onwards, something that Ironheart fits in with very well.

The first three phases of the MCU were dominated by white male characters and so far the Disney Plus slate that’s been announced has been much more inclusive with shows like Ms Marvel and She-Hulk already confirmed.

Perhaps Ironheart will be announced for Marvel Phase 5, which kicks off from 2022.
