Avengers Endgame theory: Does THIS prove OLD Captain America was at Peggy’s funeral?

At the end of , Captain America went back in time to the 1940s and lived the life he always wanted with Peggy. Moments after entering the Quantum Realm, Sam met old Steve who was wearing his wedding ring. Since Cap had this whole new life with Peggy, fans have argued if Steve was her off-screen husband after all this time. And now a new fan theory has spotted something incredible in an older MCU movie.

Comic Book shared a post on Instagram of a shot from Peggy’s funeral in Captain America: Civil War.

The scene sees the pallbearers carrying her coffin towards the front of a church.

Fans will remember that Cap was one of these, but Comic Book reckon the white-haired old man also shown is his older-self from the end of Avengers Endgame. Are there two Caps here?

It’s a great theory, and no doubt possible, however,

Directors The Russo Brothers claim that Cap created a new timeline when he went back in time to be with Peggy.

He then travelled back to ours to give Sam his shield in the prime timeline’s 2023.

However, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely disagree with them.

Markus said: “That is our theory. We are not experts on time travel, but the Ancient One specifically states that when you take an Infinity Stone out of a timeline it creates a new timeline.”

He added: “So Steve going back and just being there would not create a new timeline. So I reject the ‘Steve is in an alternate reality’ theory.

“I do believe that there is simply a period in world history from about 1948 to now where there are two Steve Rogers.

“And anyway, for a large chunk of that one of them is frozen in ice.

“So it’s not like they’d be running into each other.”
