Avengers Endgame: This Captain America ‘ending leak’ from Reddit is FALSE

WARNING: Mild spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame. Or rather, a debunking of alleged spoilers.

Thanks to the likes of Reddit and 4Chan, multiple claims have been made online over recent weeks about exactly what happens in the Marvel epic.

One such leak suggested that Nick Fury would give Captain America, aka Steve Rogers, a letter from Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), in a scene set in a graveyard – and this would spark the end of Cap’s story.

This scene either doesn’t exist, was cut from the finished product, or was changed in reshoots.

The leak had falsely claimed: “It’s a letter from Peggy. She apologizes for not being able to tell him before but that the world needed Cap first, but now that he’s saved the world it’s time to come home.

“She says he knows where to meet her. Cap is kind of confused and Fury says ‘She always was a mystery when it came to her private life.’

“Cap understands and tells Fury to call if he’s ever needed. He later says goodbye to Bucky and Sam and jokes that Bucky can’t have his suit because ‘I don’t think I’m quite done with it yet.’

“Cap goes back in time and shows up at the dance hall. Peggy is waiting for him.

“She shows him how to dance slowly and then asks if he can keep up. ‘I could do this all day.’ are the final words from Cap in the movie.”

This does not happen in the film, and is a hoax leak.

As for how the movie genuinely does end for Cap – you’ll have to see it to find out for yourself.

Express.co.uk will not reveal the specifics, but there is a caveat: there is small element of truth within the leak, even if the overall points and the details of the execution are completely off.

Fans will not be disappointed by what happens.

Avengers: Endgame is out now in some territories, and lands in the UK at midnight.

In the US, it hits cinemas on Friday.

Reviews are mostly emphatically positive: the movie has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and its Metacritic rating is currently in the low 70s.
